Annie Crawford is an amazing little lady from Worcestershire, England. She has lived in the United States since the 1970's and has two sons here. but she always has retained her Old World charm and wit!
Annie originally worked for the BBC as a record cataloger. An avowed lover of jazz, Annie tells the tale that her employers made her catalog the Country & Western albums before they would let her listen to the jazz. Annie also worked with Terry Gilliam of Monty Python for a number of years. When you hang with Annie, you will have just as much fun, because she is funny, intelligent, astute and sometimes acerbic with a humorous bent, and she prefers to laugh at life and all its foibles.
Annie is an affirmed lover of art and music and can be seen at every art opening, many plays and symphony, and routinely on the jazz circuit. She did KPFT-radio's jazz calendar for many years, and so she is always the one in Houston to ask if you want to know about jazz or art. Annie is a social whirlwind, even though she rarely leaves the Loop and confesses that her car, the inimitable white convertible, only makes right hand turns.
Annie is also a world traveler and so regularly makes trips to places exotic, and she often takes a yearly jazz cruise with the greats, who know her well. She recently returned from Cartagena, Peru, and in the past year and a half also visited Panama, Rio, China & Thailand, as well as the good old UK. Not afraid to live dangerously, Annie happened to be in London the day before the London subway bombings.
Annie now works as a social coordinator for Eight Friends Out dinner club for single professionals. She has two sons: Neil, who is a screenplay writer in Hollywood, married to a nationally known Egyptologist, and Andy, who pilots (and lives on) boats in and around the Central American waters.
Annie's parties--near Mardi Gras and Boxing Day (the day after Christmas)--are legendary. Her eclectic group of friends adore her, and we adore her too! Houston is certainly a richer place with Annie around!
We love you, Annie! |
